Bex's Birthday Week!
Bex's birthday is next Saturday, August 26, but I think we should celebrate her birthday the entire week! I made that suggestion at the shop, too, so let's see what they do ....
Here in Columbia, Missouri, school starts this week. ALL the schools. The public schools, the private schools, Stephens College, Columbia College, and the University of Missouri, too. EVERYONE IS BACK! And ready to tackle another school year.
Why don't you take a class, too? Hillcreek will be setting up their fall schedule soon. Last Saturday Bex had a full class of mobius basket knitters. Do you have something you've been wanting to try? Call the shop and let them know! (449-KNIT)
How about trying a new yarn? or a new pattern? Or a new yarn AND a new pattern?
I've talked about the aMAIZing corn yarn and the bamboo.
(Did you see this pattern for a knit skirt in bamboo?? How fun! Look at those great pleats!)
How about Karaoke? It's a soy silk/wool yarn that has colorways that are reminiscent of Noro but slightly more defined. I've knit a sample, and find it to have a nice crisp feel as it is knitted and a very drapey quality to the finished piece.
(Sorry. The flash was a little too strong for this snapshot. You can see the colorway of the sample, and the other Karaoke yarns are below it. They're not as glossy as the picture makes them look but they definitely have a presence. FYI: The yarn above the Karaoke sample is aMAIZing.)
The weather is starting to hint that it's changing over to fall, and we're actually getting some rainy days. School is starting. It's a time to shake off summer and start a new project! When you call or visit the shop, be sure to wish Bex a happy birthday week!
